A Trip to Disneyland Paris: A different perspective!

“Your imagination is yours to discover”

I went to Disneyland Paris last month and had a spectacular time. It was not my first time at Disney land, I have been to Disneyland Paris and Florida before but this time it was very different experience for me. A different season in my life and a different frame of mind.

I spent a whole day there with my sister and it was absolutely magical, it was a world of its own daring you to reach deep into your imagination and dreams, urging you to believe, to believe that nothing is Impossible, to believe that indeed dreams really come true!

While I was there, I couldn’t help thinking about Walt Disney. This man, who brought his imagination, optimism and creativity into life. Walt Disney became the single most significant man in the history of animation. His legacy is a genuine list of who’s who of animated characters; Alice, Pinocchio, Snow White, Bambi, Donald Duck, Cinderella, and of course, Mickey Mouse.

He once said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”

And he was so right, Disney land is so much more than an Amusement park, it is a world of its own. His vision was realised!

“I don’t want the public to see the world they live in while they’re in the Park (Disneyland). I want to feel they’re in another world.” – Walt Disney

castlenightThere is so much to learn from Walt Disney and Disneyland. You can read his Biography here:http://www.justdisney.com/walt_disney/biography/w_bio_short.html

Sometimes in life, we get to a cross road where it seems all is lost, no need or time for dreaming, we are stuck, our chances are gone and we cannot see a way forward. Just remember, you still have your imagination and it takes courage to establish anything! Yes Courage for “Fear is a killer of dreams”.

Here are some of Walt Disney’s sayings:

“We believed in our idea – a family park where parents and children could have fun- together.”

“We did it (Disneyland), in the knowledge that most of the people I talked to thought it would be a financial disaster – closed and forgotten within the first year.”

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”

“When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do. And one thing it takes to accomplish something is courage.”

4 important points I picked out from here are – Belief, Opposition, Action and Courage!

The last show of the night called Disney Dreams! was Epic, thousands of us gathered in front of the castle on a winter night to watch this show, but I have to say throughout that whole show, we were fixated, not feeling a hint of cold or aware of our surroundings (except that odd moment when someone tries to steal your view! Haha). This single final show brought us close to tears, and I must confess we found it difficult to leave that night.

See video clips of the below.

I leave you with this lasting thought, on the opening day of Disneyland, Sharon Baird, a mouseketeer, said this

I was standing next to him (Walt Disney) at the window, watching the guests come through the gates. When I looked up at him, he had his hands behind his back, a grin from ear to ear, and I could see a lump in his throat and a tear streaming down his cheek. He had realized his dream.

I went to Disney in Florida last year for the first time and must admit to feeling a little bit “old” for the location.

Interesting to see the Paris version on a cold day with everyone in heavy coats. Quite different to Florida!

I like all the Walt Disney quotes you’ve included.

Awww! You are right though regarding the Paris version being quite different from Sunny Florida with our heavy coats!

      Thank you!
